"Good Autism Practice: Developing a curriculum for life"
January 29, 2009

I’m busy continuing to edit my comic book. In the comic book I did this what you called ’showcasing my talent’. I’m already envisioning I’ll be having book signing and doing some interviews. The things that I’m afraid to say in person. I channel it in my drawing. To the people who have taken care of me, my gratitude is forever. They help me to have peace. They help me to cope with my anxiety. As of today I’m simply to be happy, to be alive and continuing to participate in a good cause. -gaby 48 with Asperger Syndrome

If you are watching QTV in channel 11, or GMA 7. You maybe knew about the program ‘Good Autism Project’. The program is about those people who have autism. So what is autism? A lot of people are asking about what really autism is. What’s the difference between autism and down syndrome.? This two is not alike.

Autism is a disorder that is usually first diagnosed in early childhood. The main signs and symptoms of autism involve communication, social interactions and repetitive behaviors.- National Institute of Child Health and Human Development

Children with autism might have problems talking with you, or they might not look you in the eye when you talk to them. They may have to line up their pencils before they can pay attention, or they may say the same sentence again and again to calm themselves down. They may flap their arms to tell you they are happy, or they might hurt themselves to tell you they are not. Some people with autism never learn how to talk.

Because people with autism can have very different features or symptoms, health care providers think of autism as a “spectrum” disorder. Asperger’s syndrome is a milder version of the disorder which Gaby is diagnosed when he was 48 years old already.

The cause of autism is not known. Autism lasts throughout a person’s lifetime. There is no cure, but treatment can help. Treatments include behavior and communication therapies and medicines to control symptoms.

Autistic people most commonly known as “May sariling mundo”. Because the things that they want to say they are unable to show or tell it. Because of the communication problem. When the health care provider unable to get what they wants to said, they hurt themselves. The reason why they have their own world is to cope their anxiety. To release the tension. Remember they could not ask for HELP!. That’s why health team tries to understand those with autism.

The down syndrome is different from an autistic. Ito yung tinatawag na “Mongoloid” before, but now in the medical term. We tried to change the term to a “Trisomy 21″ or “down syndrome” rather to called it mongoloid because, the term itself hurts the patient. But I don’t want to discussed it further to avoid confusion.

Gaby have been diagnosed to have autistic when he was already 48. So what is Asperger? It is a category of autistic. Asperger’s syndrome (AS) is an autism spectrum disorder. It is milder than autism but shares some of its symptoms. It is more common in boys than girls.

An obsessive interest in a single subject is a major symptom of AS. Some children with AS have become experts on dinosaurs, makes and models of cars, even objects as seemingly odd as vacuum cleaners. Their expertise, high level of vocabulary and formal speech patterns make them seem like little professors.

Children with AS have trouble reading social cues and recognizing other people’s feelings. They may have strange movements or mannerisms. All of these make it difficult for them to make friends. Problems with motor skills are also common in children with AS. They may be late learning to ride a bike or catch a ball, for example. Treatment focuses on the three main symptoms: poor communication skills, obsessive or repetitive routines, and physical clumsiness. ref. nl.nih.gov

Gaby is busy working for his comic book. He developed this talent due to his obsession in comics. One of the characteristics of Asperger’s syndrome as describe. So what is the main highlight of this? Having an autism is not really a blockage to become a productive mankind. A little bit help and understanding is the need of the autistic patient. Without understanding the real world of an autistic is the real blockage through his development.(in tagalog Ang makitid na utak ang tunay na sagabal sa pagunlad).

"Me, Myself and I against the world"
January 22, 2009

Oh I haven’t updated lately because of my busy scheduled for being a “official tambay nurse”. Lols. You heard it right. I’m still looking for a new avenue to put my knowledge on. Sayang naman kasi diba? Instead of watching TV all day, I’m trying to learned new things. Oh! Haven’t I told you that I’m now a freelancer of limexchange hahaha.. There are 2 sites’ that are popular when it comes to freelancing job, which are Odesk and Limexchange.
Limexchange. is a bit new in this marketplace yet they are really working hard to pull more employers in their website to hire a freelancer like me. You can hire me directly by just sending me a message and we can work it on. The following are the following highlights of my job category:

a) Research project (if you want me to do it for you?)
b) Translator (English to tagalog not tagalog to English) I’m bad in English tense. I’m very good in tagalog, I have awards on that to prove it. Literary writer kasi me ng tagalog sa gazette namin nung elementary and highschool.
c) Simple Web designing for beginners. (html lang ah pati javascript walang flash)
d) Nursing related NCP, thesis, projects.
e) Social study/ Tech/ Email job/

Also if you want to hire me as private nurse you can send me email. I will render you my tender loving care. I have all the skills that I’ve learned during my RLE trainings and hospital exposure. Sample of this are the following: Chest tube drainage, Suctioning, Nasogastric lavage/gavage, Medication preparation, Electroconvulsive therapy during bipolar/depression stage, basic life support. Well of course this would not be performed during private homecare because this is a hospital based. This is not a joke. Do I sound not serious? But once again I’m serious.

I’m also inviting you to try this A.W SURVEYS. You get 6 dollars on your first sign up followed by 4 dollars for every survey you will participate (It depends on the length of the survey). Another monetizing avenue is the PAYPERPLAY, it is not pay per click. For every visitor you would have in your website, the audio would be automatically played and you will be paid for that. So easy right?. Next would be SCOUR, for every search, comments and votes you will do for their website, you will earn bonus points and that would be converted into cash.

Any violent reaction regarding my new avenue of getting paid would be sentence to death. Lol.

PS: Follow me in your TWITTER Mas gagamitin ko ito kesa sa plurk :)

"Halaga"
January 17, 2009
